Hi
Last time I told you about focusing on getting target traffic to a page
that lets people sign up for your list.
You might think that’s the biggest key to list building success. You’d
be wrong.
Think about it...
Suppose a highly targeted visitor scoots on over to your site. Now
let’s say all he sees there is a sign-up form for your list and a
button that says, “Sign me up!”
Prepare yourself for loooong drought of sign-ups.
Once you get a live one, you have to convert him into a subscriber.
That means the biggest list building skill for every single marketer
out there is...
Getting somebody to sign up for your list.
You’re probably thinking that’s not rocket science, and you’re
absolutely right.
What you might be missing is that this simple task is often easier said
than done. After years of researching and experimenting with this, I
can tell you it all comes down to two things:
1) Grabbing and holding a visitor’s attention
2) Making him a compelling offer so he’ll join your list
I’m sure you already know that most web surfers have the attention span
of a fruit fly. They’ll click away from something within a couple
seconds if it doesn’t grab their attention and hold onto it.
That’s all about your landing page and the words on it.
You’ve probably heard of a “squeeze page” before. The name comes from
the idea that you’re squeezing some contact information out of a
visitor. In most cases, all you need is a first name and an email
address.
Your squeeze page has to grab a reader’s attention and hold it. Here
are some things that can help:
* Nice graphics (if your page looks professional and attractive, people
are likely to pay attention longer)
* A compelling headline...which could mean it asks an intriguing
question, is a little shocking (without being offensive) or perhaps a
bit mysterious
* The page should be SHORT (people really do hate to read these days)
All that is nice, and I’ll show you how to do it all, but think about
what you’re doing to squeeze that information out of a visitor.
You have to give him an offer that’s too good to refuse. Most often,
that’s an offer that won’t cost him anything, but gives him a huge
perceived value.
If you can do that, you’ll find your list expanding like you won’t
believe.

But the book goes WAY beyond list building. Once you’ve built your
list, how do you use it to kill your day job?! That’s what you really
want to know.
The key is being able to create email marketing campaigns that grab
people by the heart and brain, and pretty much compel them to take the
action you want.
It seems like magic, but it’s really not. It’s more about psychology
and pressing the right buttons. Fortunately, I figured out the “secret”
to doing it well (no, it’s not really a secret, but most people won’t
tell you about it).
When you put together targeted traffic, a free offer that’s too good to
pass up, and the ability to get your subscribers to do what you want
them to do, you’ll have the list building formula that took me years of
digging to figure out.
Best of all, you’ll just have to follow the instructions! It’s all in
the book, and I hope you’ll check it out, right here:
